SANTA CLARA, Calif., Jan. 8 (SEND2PRESS NEWSWIRE) — SecuGen is pleased to announce that its Hamster(TM) Plus and Hamster(TM) IV fingerprint biometric readers are now compatible with Sun Solaris, Sun Ray, and Sun’s Identity Management Solutions. SecuGen’s engineering and Sun’s ISV engineering team worked closely together to provide a seamless integration of their products.
The integration enables biometric capabilities available on Solaris 10, Solaris 10 Trusted Extensions, Sun Ray, and Sun Identity Management solutions to provide strong authentication solutions for government and commercial applications. Whether protecting sensitive enterprise applications, meeting the demands of regulatory compliance, or complying with federal mandates, the Sun and SecuGen partnership delivers best of breed solutions.
“With SecuGen biometrics authentication integration with Solaris 10 and Solaris 10 Trusted Extensions, Sun Microsystems customers can now deploy biometric authentication enabled hot-desking on Sun Rays and use biometrics-based Web Single Sign-on authentication with Sun OpenSSO Enterprise,” said Ron Melanson, Vice President Engineering and Chief Quality Officer, Sun Microsystems, Inc. “We are pleased that SecuGen’s FIPS 201 certified scanners have been verified to run on the military-grade, multi-level, security features of Solaris 10 Trusted Extensions and support the delivery of large-scale biometric authentication solutions on SPARC and x86/x64 based server platforms.”
The SecuGen Hamster IV is an FBI certified single fingerprint reader that meets the FIPS 201/PIV requirements of Homeland Security Presidential Directive 12 (HSPD 12). Hamster IV has been verified and tested to work with Sun OpenSSO Enterprise for addressing FIPS 201 requirements for logical access control. The SecuGen Hamster Plus and the Hamster IV feature Smart Capture(TM), advanced technology that ensures accurate fingerprint scanning under challenging conditions including bright light. Smart Capture allows the Hamster Plus and the Hamster IV to capture high quality fingerprints from a wide spectrum of traditionally difficult fingers such as those with dry, moist, scarred and aged skin.
“We are very excited to see our Hamster fingerprint solutions supporting Sun Solaris, Sun Ray and Sun Identity Management solutions,” said Won Lee, CEO of SecuGen. “Having Hamster scanners running on Sun’s platform brings to the market full-fledged biometrics enabled security platform solutions and establishes a great security foundation for delivering identity assurance for large-scale enterprise applications.”
