O.C. Faery Hunt to Benefit Shipley Nature Center
HUNTINGTON BEACH, CA – April 12 (SEND2PRESS NEWSWIRE) — The cast of A Faery Hunt! O.C. will dedicate their May 6th preview performance in Central Park to benefit the Shipley Nature Center in Huntington Beach. A Faery Hunt! O.C. is the new Orange County version of the very successful show A Faery Hunt!, which has run in Los Angeles for over a year. Proceeds from the May 6th benefit preview will be donated to the Shipley Nature Center. The official premiere will be Saturday, May 13th, 2006, with subsequent shows currently scheduled on Saturday mornings through June. Both the preview and the premiere will begin at 10:30 a.m.
Cynthia Milenkovich, producer/director of the Orange County company, gives this description: “A Faery Hunt! O.C. is an interactive, live entertainment for children. I have assembled a talented cast of (primarily) local actors who are dedicated to children, and look forward to giving them a wonderful theatrical experience.” Ms. Milenkovich further explained that the action begins on the Edwards Street side of Central Park, where Central Park Drive ends, and moves over a portion of the park as the children move from one area of play to the next and meet the various faeries and other creatures. “While they are having a fabulous time,” she continued, “they are also learning important life-lessons about kindness, environmental awareness and self-esteem.”
The O.C. cast includes: Myra T Chen, Nathan Cambridge, Fatima Sanchez, Isabelle Palmer, Jaime Hunter, David Esch, Cynthia Milenkovich and Richard Milenkovich.
A Faery Hunt is the brainchild of Debbie Rothstein and Peggy O’Neal, who came up with the idea as they hiked in the Santa Monica Mountains. Although Ms. O’Neal is no longer with the project, Ms. Rothstein, now known as “the Faery Lady,” brought the Los Angeles-based company in Franklin Canyon National park to life. A Faery Hunt! O.C. is one of two companies opening the show this year. The other company is in Las Vegas, Nevada.
Children are asked to bring their parents and wear good walking shoes, as well as to dress for the weather (hats, sunblock, etc.). Aspiring faeries may also wear whatever faery gear they currently possess. There is a suggested donation of $10.00 per person. In coordination with the City of Huntington Beach Community Services A Faery Hunt! O.C. will run on Saturdays at 10:30 a.m. The show will close for rain or conflicting events. Reservations are highly recommended by calling 714-557-1507.
All the faery characters are based in real lore and there are several episodes that will rotate through the performance period. Additionally, A Faery Hunt is part of The Benevolent Faery Foundation (BFF). The BFF’s mission is to bring the beauty of the faeries and their message to the children who cannot visit them in the forest.
The BFF is networking with other like organizations such as the Whole Children Whole Planet Expo (www.wcwpexpo.com) dedicated to creating empowered parents, balanced families and a healthier planet; and The Love Planet Foundation (www.loveplanetfoundation.org) dedicated to launching exciting projects and media events which inspire greater social and environmental awareness for children.”
