BOSTON, Mass. – Oct. 31 (SEND2PRESS NEWSWIRE) — Arclinea Boston was a multiple award winner at the 2006 Qualified Remodeler Master Design awards held on Wednesday, October 18 at the Peninsula Hotel in Chicago. A kitchen in Weston, Massachusetts was named Silver Award winner in the Kitchens Over $100,000 category, while the model kitchen for the 360 Newbury condominium development, located in Boston’s Back Bay, won the Silver Award for Kitchens $50,000 to $100,000. The winning kitchens were both designed by Arclinea Boston Senior Project Manager Mercedes Farrando.
The award-winning sleek and minimal Weston kitchen is meticulously designed to complement the traditional architecture of the larger home, with perspectives as seen from the home’s entrance as well as from the living area carefully considered. Materials chosen for the kitchen-lacquer and stainless steel-provide elegant simplicity and are respectful to the monochromatic white and hardwood floors that are consistent throughout the home. The professional grade kitchen offers ergonomic placement and storage solutions and a fully functional island.
The 360 Newbury kitchen is also carefully integrated within its surroundings. Both practical and elegant, the kitchen gracefully employs clean, straight lines and bright finishes to reflect and amplify generous natural light. The feeling of lightness is added to by sleek white lacquer cabinetry, which extends slightly, seeming to float over the rich hardwood floor. Stainless steel appliances are complemented with matching cabinet grips, and above the oven and cook top, a steel backsplash and exhaust hood. Sightlines from the adjacent living area were considered in the placement of appliances and work stations. According to Qualified Remodeler editors Patrick O’Toole and Chaya Chang, “This year’s contest was very competitive, both in number of entries and the quality of projects.” Entries were reviewed by a panel of building professionals from all regions of the country.
“At Arclinea Boston, every kitchen is custom designed to meet the personal needs of the client, but also to fit perfectly within the overall environment of the home,” says Arclinea Boston President Philip Guarino. “The fact that these two very distinct kitchens were recognized by Qualified Remodeler is a great testament to both the Arclinea approach and to the great talents of designer Mercedes Farrando.”
