Customers will have a chance to watch the artist’s work in progress and purchase finished product directly from the surrounding showroom where his signature pieces, evoking the richness and opulence of Byzantine cultures and Medieval worlds, are on display. Daniel Gibbings Jewellery – which with its spelling gives a nod to his English background and training – is scheduled to open October 17th on Montecito’s Coast Village Road among the town’s many unique, upscale shops and services.

Most recently receiving a 2005 Reader’s Choice Award from Colored Stone Magazine, Gibbings’s work has also been voted to the top of Santa Barbara’s major “Best Of” lists and featured in publications including Montecito Magazine, Santa Barbara Magazine, Santa Barbara Food & Home, The News-Press and The Independent. South African born, he has designed and manufactured jewelry in the United States for over 20 years, earning a loyal following of discerning clients throughout California and the world.

With the launch of this venture he will introduce his latest collection which is a simpler, more refined line of jewelry using colored sapphires, unusual diamonds and large cabochons. Upon request, Gibbings will continue creating individual commissioned pieces for private clients.

Combining a variety of techniques including hand engraving and metal inlay, his work is characterized by rare gemstones, high carat gold, ancient coins and thick, hand wrought chains. The result is a blend of early civilizations and new ideas influenced by his primitive sense of design and traditional training.
