FAIRMONT, W.Va., Feb. 5 (SEND2PRESS NEWSWIRE) — Backbone Security’s Steganography Analysis and Research Center (SARC) is pleased to announce their popular Certified Steganography Examiner (CSE)(TM) course is now available online. This two-day advanced digital forensics course raises awareness of the threat from use of digital steganography to conceal evidence of criminal activity or use by insiders to steal sensitive information.

The course features an introduction to the history of steganography along with in-depth technical information on the various methods employed by digital steganography applications to hide information in a way that cannot be perceived by the human senses.

During the second day of the course, students learn about the Analytical Approach to Steganalysis while using advanced steganalysis tools developed in the SARC. Hands-on laboratory exercises simulate a realistic computer forensic examination. Students learn how criminals can easily use anti-forensic tools such as digital steganography applications and how it’s impossible to find and extract hidden evidence without highly advanced special purpose digital forensic tools such as those developed in the SARC.

The first online CSE course was held in December 2009 for staff of the AllSouth Federal Credit Union. Carol Dobbs, Vice President of Information Technology, said “The training was very informative and that it appealed to their organization because it allowed them to save money on travel, lodging, and other expenses.”

According to Bart Guerreri, Chairman and CEO of Backbone Security, “Being able to provide our highly successful steganalysis training in an online format allows us to reach customers who may not be able to travel to digital forensic conferences or our facilities for training. And, it gives us additional flexibility to customize our course for both large and small organizations.”

The next class is scheduled for March 10-11, 2010 from 9 a.m. – 5 p.m. EST. For additional information or to reserve your seat, please call 1-877-560-7272 or send Email to sarc@backbonesecurity.com. On-site and closed-session training is also available. Contact the SARC for details.
