SAN DIEGO, Calif. – September 16 (SEND2PRESS NEWSWIRE) – Borrego Solar Systems, Inc. (www.boregosolar.com), an industry leader in the design and installation of commercial, residential and public sector turnkey, grid-connected solar electric systems, today announced that they have completed the design and installation of a solar electric system for CityMark Development’s new and innovative housing development The Egyptian, (www.citymarkdev.com/urban_egyptian.asp) located in the Hillcrest area of San Diego, California.
“CityMark had considered solar in the past but the option had never presented itself as financially viable,” said Mike Hall, Chief of Marketing and Sales for Borrego Solar Systems. “Our plan for a grid-tied solar system provides power to the Egyptian’s commercial units, including a restaurant and a museum, which allows CityMark to realize energy savings through increasing energy costs to their commercial tenants. Borrego Solar System’s solution, combined with federal and state solar tax incentives, made it possible for CityMark to invest in a solar system for the Egyptian, while still maintaining a positive cash flow.”
The Egyptian presented some unique design and engineering challenges. Creative engineering was required to limit the number of roof penetrations, and to provide a versatile racking system that could work around the unpredictable locations of the plumbing and mechanical roof vents, while still meeting CityMark’s expectations regarding aesthetics and system size. Borrego Solar chose to install 336 highly efficient mono-crystalline modules manufactured by Sharp Solar. In addition, Borrego Solar designed custom electrical equipment to interface with the building’s pre-designed electrical distribution system.
CityMark Development is redefining the concept of home in San Diego County by developing innovative urban living opportunities. The Egyptian is a 7-story building with 80 urban residences and a number of first-floor commercial units. The installation of their rooftop solar power plant was in line with CityMark’s mission to enhance the quality of life for the people and areas they serve.
With over two decades of experience, Borrego Solar Systems has the expertise to accurately predict system production and financial payback. Combined with the integration of the latest technology, Borrego Solar System’s photovoltaic systems are the most efficient, reliable, and cost effective in the industry.
