CUPERTINO, Calif., July 13, 2011 (SEND2PRESS NEWSWIRE) — CarpoolAssist, the web-based service that helps people connect to create carpools for work, school or special events, today announced that it has been selected by the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools (CMS) district in Charlotte, North Carolina for a pilot program, under which CMS is promoting the use of CarpoolAssist to help create carpools for parents, students and staff.
CMS, which serves more than 137,000 students in pre-kindergarten through grade 12, has included information about CarpoolAssist on its website as part of its environmental stewardship initiative.
“CarpoolAssist was founded in 2009 with a dream of making this earth a greener planet, and this partnership with CMS is a significant achievement towards that dream. Our vision is to fill every vehicle traveling on the road to 60-80 percent of its seating capacity, by making it easy to set up carpools with neighbors, co-workers and like-minded people,” said Seema Gupta, founder of CarpoolAssist.
“The CMS district is committed to a program of environmental management and to helping reduce traffic congestion and vehicle emissions in the community. By partnering with CarpoolAssist, CMS can offer parents, students and staff a free and easy-to-use resource to help them connect with each other to form carpools. This is a great option for families who are not able to utilize the district’s school bus system.”
