DELAND, Fla., Nov. 14, 2014 (SEND2PRESS NEWSWIRE) — Designer decorations from around the world embellish the historic Stetson Mansion for 2 months starting November 15, 2014. Named “Florida’s most popular attraction” by Tripadvisor, the mansion endeavors to outdo all other holiday decorations in Florida. Famed hat maker John B. Stetson originally built this private ornate mansion in 1886.
There is no better place to experience holiday cheer than in an authentic Victorian home. The 10,000 square foot Stetson Mansion is the only real “Gilded Age” mansion in Florida. Florida’s first luxury home is the largest, grandest and most historic home ever built in Florida before the 20th century. Its intricate parquet floors, windows and woodcarvings are works of art. They are also inspiration for quilt patterns, a hobby on the comeback.
Top Orlando designers, like Lee James, are collaborating with a dozen local merchants to help create a memorable and reverent experience. Guests first walk into the reception parlor, a room that feels like a winter forest with freshly fallen snow. After going through the forest, they arrive at Mrs. Clause’s workroom.
The old-fashioned style room is right out of a storybook. Almost everything is made from quilting materials. Antique sewing machines invite special interest. The dining room is another over the top experience. One is not quite sure if they are back outside or still inside. Birdcages are the only hint we can provide.

The tour and decorations in this private mansion continue through the second floor, which includes the owner’s personal living quarters filled with the finest new and old products made by the Stetson Company. The last stop is the original schoolhouse that has been repurposed as a Zen guesthouse. This year the schoolhouse will also serve as the gift shop for the holidays.
