In Mock Casino Overlooking Puget Sound, Guests Will Roll Dice with Members, Benefiting Afflicted Youngsters
SEATTLE, WA – April 6 (SEND2PRESS NEWSWIRE) — In one of Seattle’s most popular fund-raisers, the Columbia Tower Club will hold its third annual Casino Night on Saturday, April 29, on the top floor of the Columbia Center, the tallest building west of the Mississippi. The general public as well as club members may purchase tickets, a departure from the club’s members-only norm.
In 2005, over 250 attended Casino Night, and more are expected this year. “Everyone’s going to be there,” says Rebecca McBrearty, coordinator of the event, “executives and doctors, engineers and lawyers, people in finance and the arts, those who’ve made it and those on the way up.” Participants are encouraged to dress like elegant secret agents of movie fame; and to gamble with abandon using chips that will be exchanged for prizes. They may also join a silent auction.
“People are always curious about the top level of the building, which is used exclusively by the Columbia Tower Club,” says McBrearty. “This is their opportunity to experience it.”
The proceeds will be split equally between two charities: Rise N’ Shine – www.risenshine.org — which provides emotional support, stability, advocacy, and AIDS education for children and teens affected by HIV and AIDS; and the Make-A-Wish Foundation(R) of Alaska, Montana, Northern Idaho and Washington – www.northwestwishes.org — which grants wishes to children with life-threatening medical conditions.
Casino Night is run by a subgroup of the Columbia Tower Club, the Tower 35 Board, consisting of members 35 and under. It was formed to develop new business networks and social contacts, and to give back to the community. Jonas Roeser, a board member, says giving back should not be postponed by those intent on pursuing their dreams. “We need to make time for others, especially kids. Even if they’ve got an incurable disease, they’ve got dreams too. We need to support them. It’s what keeps us all hopeful, joyful, and strong.”
