TIPP CITY, Ohio, July 5, 2016 (SEND2PRESS NEWSWIRE) — The Dayton Woman’s Club (DWC), an organization with roots that reach back 100 years into Dayton’s past, is continuing with its efforts to blend the best of the past with the best of the present. It just completed a project to bring its lighting systems up to 21st century technology through a partnership with Energy Optimizers, USA.
The Dayton Woman’s Club, established in 1916 by a group of civic-minded women, and celebrating its 100th birthday this year, and is housed in a 168-year-old mansion that is on the National Register of Historic Places. Energy Optimizers, USA, recently replaced the building’s outdated and inefficient lighting systems with state-of-the-art LED lighting. The new lighting will use an average of 60 percent less energy and lasts up to 5 times longer than the lighting that was in place.
The improved efficiency is expected to yield $1,300 in annual savings.
“One of our goals is the preservation and maintenance of our historic building, and upgrading our lighting systems will enable us to further this mission,” said Deb McNeff, president of the Woman’s Club of Dayton Foundation, the 501c3 development arm of the DWC. “The savings that result from this relatively simple project will enable us to make additional improvements over time to ensure our building lasts another century or more.”
Energy Optimizers, USA, has additionally assisted the DWC with obtaining DRG Green Business certification. The certification is awarded by Dayton Regional Green in recognition of organizations that take voluntary steps to protect, preserve and improve the environment. To qualify, organizations must complete an application that documents their efforts to reduce and recycle solid waste, make environmentally preferable purchases, conserve energy and water, and prevent pollution. Organizations must also complete an energy audit of their facilities.
“We are proud to be partnering with an organization that has both a storied history in our community and a commitment to advanced, energy efficient systems,” said Greg Smith, Energy Optimizers, USA, president. “The Dayton Woman’s Club is making an investment not just in the future of their building, but in the future of the community through improved resource stewardship.”
The $15,000 project is funded in part with a grant from the Dayton Foundation. The project was completed in June of 2016.
