SAN FRANCISCO, Calif., Jan. 15, 2016 (SEND2PRESS NEWSWIRE) — Sixteen Philippine companies are participating in this year’s Winter Fancy Food Show (WFFS) slated at the Moscone Convention Center, San Francisco, January 17-19, the Philippine Trade and Investment Center Silicon Valley announced today. Each with an advocacy at the heart of its business, these companies bring with them narratives of the people, places, and practices incidental and instrumental to their production.
“What Food Philippines brings to WFFS are high quality products that contribute in sustaining and uplifting our country’s social, cultural and environmental landscape,” says Rosvi C. Gaetos, executive director of the Center for International Trade Expositions and Missions (CITEM) of the Philippine Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) and the organizer of the Philippine’s annual participation.
“It is already recognized that specialty food from the Philippines are of premium quality-natural, healthy, and functional. However, our specialty food products go beyond texture and flavor, as they directly support special advocacies that promote job creation and inclusive growth in some of the Philippines’ least developed areas, raise standards of living, promote the sustainable use of our natural resources and preserve Filipino food traditions while promoting the development of an expanded array of locally available food ingredients,” explains Gaetos, underlining this year’s theme of social responsibility for the Philippines’ participation in the West Coast’s largest specialty food and beverage event. The Philippines exported over USD4.5 billion worth of food and beverage products to the world in 2014.
The companies comprising this year’s delegation to the WFF are Brandexports Philippines, Inc. / Peace and Equity Foundation (PEF), featuring their coconut and mango vinegar, coco wine, fruit wine, among others; Citra Mina Canning Corporation, with their cooked loin and canned tuna products; Eighth Wonder, Inc., promoting heirloom rice; Franklin Baker Company of the Philippines, with their coconut chips and coconut flour; Fruits of Life, Inc., with their bottled and canned coconut water; Hatchgrove Enterprise, featuring garnishing coconut oils, Virgin Coconut oil, marinating coconut vinegar, and frozen coconut products; JUD Products Philippines, Inc., offering fruitcake, coco sugar, coco syrup, among others; and Mackie International, Inc., with their ice pops and natural drinks, triangle freezer pops and other shelf stable frozen treats.
