NATCHEZ PILGRIMAGE TOURS (NPT) is the only full service year-round receptive tour operator located in Natchez. For many years it has provided promotional and receptive tourism services that has attracted hundreds of thousands of visitors to the City of Natchez.

NPT promotes and provides all of the necessary functions for the tourist to enjoy the highly successful Spring and Fall Pilgrimages. The Natchez Spring Pilgrimage is the oldest pilgrimage in Southeast America having started in 1932 where the homeowners, host/hostesses dress up in period costumes to welcome tourist into their private homes!

The tourist is able soak up the history of these homes some of which have been in the same families for over 150 years! 28 of the country’s most outstanding antebellum homes are offered on the four day cycle, four homes each morning, including Longwood (1861), and four different homes in the afternoon. During Spring Pilgrimage the visitor has the choice of a three house tour for $21, or a four house tour for $28 each morning and afternoon.

Nightly entertainment is varied and includes the world famous “Historic Natchez Pageant” featuring hundreds of local participants dressed in period costumes telling the story of Natchez. Also one can attend the inspiring “A Southern Road to Freedom,” a stirring musical tribute, by the Holy Family Gospel Choir, to the struggle and victory of the African-American experience in Natchez. “Southern Exposure” is a satirical comedy on the Pilgrimage and “The Songs of the South” by the Natchez Opera Festival presents Stephen Foster traditional spirituals. Quite frankly – we’re swinging in Natchez!

The 2005 Natchez Fall Pilgrimage (October 22 – November 5) features 18 antebellum homes on a cycle of three days of 3 homes in the morning followed by three different homes in the afternoon with Longwood (1861) being available every day! In the evening one can attend the “Amos Polk’s Voices of Hope Spiritual Singers” while enjoying a traditional southern dinner in the world famous Carriage House Restaurant on the grounds of historic Stanton Hall (1857) for $28 per person.

If you can’t make it to Natchez during one of our Pilgrimages, Natchez Pilgrimage Tours can still plan your visit throughout the year. NPT offers a wide selection of Bed and Breakfast accommodations in famous well preserved antebellum homes. Likewise, Dining can be arranged (some in antebellum homes) in a wide variety of venues to suit the visitors taste and desires.

Arrangements can be made to tour our antebellum homes that are open on a daily basis year-round for $8 or you can get a DISCOUNTED 3 house tour ticket for $21!

These homes include:

LONGWOOD (1861)

STANTON HALL (1857)

MAGNOLIA HALL (1858)

ELLICOTT’S HILL (1798-1801)

ROSALIE (1823)

MONMOUTH (1818)

MELROSE (1845)

AUBURN (1812)

The Civil War prevented the completion of LONGWOOD (1861) a National Historic Landmark that is the largest and most elaborate octagonal house in America as well as one of the most visited. On special occasions, NPT can arrange throughout the year group tours to many of the private antebellum homes that are normally only open during our Pilgrimages.

Arrangements can also be made for a Mini-Bus Historic City Tour and a Horse Drawn Carriage Tour for $10 each.

Natchez is the oldest continuous settlement on the Mississippi River, and is a preservation/restoration gem with more than 500 antebellum structures and more than 300 wonderful Victorian homes. As one visitor said “Walking down the streets you are transported into another time!”

According to the company, “Come to NATCHEZ… where you can SEE… HEAR… and… LIVE… HISTORY!”
