Protex International Corp. sets example for U.S. businesses by immediate response to Key European Environmental Initiative heading soon to U.S.
BOHEMIA, NY – Oct. 7 (SEND2PRESS NEWSWIRE) — Protex International Corp. (www.protex-intl.com) announced today that they are one of the first U.S. companies to respond to the European Union mandate for Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment (WEEE) by initiating a rapid resolution for environmental safety and protection.
The WEEE Directive, effective August 13, 2005, mandates the collection, re-use, re-cycling and energy recovery of electrical and electronic equipment at the time of its first disposal. Essentially, producers are responsible for providing take-back programs for all electrical and electronic equipment. WEEE will affect manufacturers, retailers, consumers and re-users of electrical and electronic goods.
By partnering with Aegus Solutions, the Protex Global Environmental Team’s focus is green procurement through the resolution of component engineering, data gathering, component substitution and a set of detailed Bill of Materials compliance assessment.
