Author and Expert on Women’s Health Issues to Conduct Workshop on Self-Nurturing in the Face of Breast Cancer.

BOSTON, Mass. – Oct. 10 (SEND2PRESS NEWSWIRE) — Alice Domar, PhD, an expert on women’s health issues, will be the featured speaker at the October Breast Cancer Awareness Month lecture sponsored by Thrive, The Wellness Community and The Program for Young Women with Breast Cancer at the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute. Dr. Domar will conduct a workshop entitled The Healing Art of Self Nurturance on Monday, October 22nd from 7:15-9:00 p.m. at The Wellness Community in Newton, Mass.

When a woman receives a cancer diagnosis, she often vows to continue to care for her family, home, and even her job, despite the time and energy needed for the treatments. Any possible time for self-nurturing activities is then lost. The goal of this workshop is to learn to care for one’s self without guilt and to place self-healing at the top of one’s to-do list.

Dr. Domar is a pioneer in the application of mind/body medicine to women’s health issues, and has earned an international reputation as one of this country’s top women’s health experts. She is currently the Executive Director of the Domar Center for Mind/Body Health, and the Director of Mind/Body Services at Boston IVF. She is an assistant professor of Obstetrics, Gynecology, and Reproductive Biology at Harvard Medical School, and a senior staff psychologist at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center. Dr. Domar has compiled an impressive list of accomplishments as a best-selling author, media authority and sought-after public speaker. Her newest book, “Be Happy Without Being Perfect” (Crown) will be published in March, 2008.

This workshop is free and open to the public. RSVPs are required. To RSVP, please call 617-332-1919 or e-mail info@wellnesscommunity(.org).
