Major Health Insurance Customer Reaches Efficiency Goals Ahead of Schedule
BURLINGTON, MA – May 17 (SEND2PRESS NEWSWIRE) — RulesPower, Inc. (www.rulespower.com), a leading innovator of Business Rules Management Systems (BRMS), announces general availability of their 2.0 release, designed to set a new standard in business rule software performance while enhancing the ease of business rule development.
RulesPower BRMS 2.0 is comprised of two scalable business rule management applications that allow companies to embed business activities, business policies and relevant content into everyday business processes to achieve bottom-line results, such as those recently realized by Horizon Casualty Services, New Jersey’s largest health insurer.
Before implementing RulesPower, Horizon’s goals were to find a simplified, efficient, rules-driven business process for payments, ensure high quality and consistent customer service, reach a target of 10% auto adjudication, deliver a tangible result within 120 days, and reduce cost-per-claim by 10%. The RulesPower product surpassed their Auto Adjudication goal by 6x, completed their project 30 days ahead of schedule and lowered costs by 30%.
“A major challenge we faced was determining how best to optimize our workflow and processes, portions of which had been largely manual. I learned that our application wasn’t at fault – but we had a business process problem instead,” stated John Oliveira, Director of Operations for Horizon Casualty Services. “Within a few months, using RulesPower, we developed formal business processes to address our needs and reconfigured our bill payment application to follow those processes. Once we implemented RulesPower, the adjudication process – based upon the business rules we implemented – automatically processed 40% faster on day one of the first phase of our project, and 60% faster soon thereafter. RulesPower has given us a view into our business processes we’d never had before. This visibility allows us to continue improving our business performance and customer service.”
New features of 2.0, like the Direct Access Window(SM) combine a powerful logic search engine with hyperlinks to a selected attribute in a business model. The hallmark of RulesPower’s BRMS is the ability to graphically represent business complexity, described by RulesPower as the Business Logic Layer. RulesPower’s Relational Logic Technology (RLT) samples the business rules, detects rule conflicts and redundancies, logic gaps and overlaps as well as variable usage across the business process.
Dr. Charles Forgy, a founding father of rule-engine technology, said “We took a total systems-oriented approach for Version 2.0. The core engine was already fast when performing decision support tasks. In 2.0 we optimized various aspects of the system to improve performance of tasks related to workflow.” Breakthrough enhancements in RETE III places RulesPower at the top of their class in business rule engine performance.
RulesPower Relational Logic Technology is the first BRMS product to address these critical business issues, and is an innovator in the Gartner BPA magic quadrant, reducing implementation times by as much as 70%.
“After months of strategy, planning, and hard work from our product management and R&D teams, with extensive feedback from customers, partners, and analysts, we are proud to bring to market what many have told us is this industry’s most groundbreaking BRMS product to date,” said Steven Horwitz, CEO of RulesPower.
About RulesPower:
Headquartered in Burlington, MA, RulesPower was co-founded in 2001 by business rules guru and father of all modern rule-engines, Charles Forgy, PhD, to address the next evolution in the development of the application architecture stack – the abstraction of business logic from the application layer. Today, RulesPower enables businesses to manage the creation and execution of business logic that drives applications.
RulesPower BRMS V2.0 includes the Business Logic Modeler, a powerful tool for abstracting business logic, providing a level of transparency unavailable prior to the inception of RulesPower, and the Business Logic Server, built around the exclusive RETE III inference engine is the industry’s best engine for efficient execution of highly complex business logic enabling clients to grow with RulesPower as their business needs evolve.
