BOSTON, MA (SEND2PRESS NEWSWIRE) — You’ll want to spend the whole weekend at the 2nd Annual South End Holiday Market, Friday, December 9 through Sunday, December 11. The event will benefit Washington Gateway Main Street, a non-profit organization focused on the revitalization of the Washington Street area in Boston’s historic South End.

(c) Send2Press500 Harrison Avenue will be transformed into a holiday shopping village. Over 130 artisans from around New England will be featured. Their offerings include sumptuous shawls, hand-blown glass vases and ornaments, funky kids’ clothes, wonderful handbags, unique men’s accessories, vintage maps, hand-crafted jewelry, original paintings and photographs, creative home goods and tasty specialty foods. Temper Chocolates, Aunt Sadie’s and London Lace, retailers with an artisan flair, will also be joining the Holiday Market. The Market Café will be creating gourmet sandwiches, hearty salads and soups, high-end coffee and sweets. To complete the holiday shopping experience, trees, wreathes, poinsettias and gift wrapping will be part of the mix.

The South End Holiday Market begins on Friday, December 9, at 6:00 pm. The First Pick Preview Night will be a benefit for Washington Gateway Main Street, featuring refreshments, a wine tasting, performances by The Back Bay Bell Ringers, a raffle of wonderful items from local merchants like Michelle Willey and Vessels Gallery, Seiyo Wine Shop & Sushi, Claygo, and Voila, and introducing the Holiday Market Cell Phone Santa. So, leave your cell phone on, because Santa may be calling to tell you where to find your free gift. In addition, the galleries in the SoWa district and the SoWa Artist Guild Studios at 450 Harrison Ave. will be open that weekend.

Chris Masci, Director of the South End Holiday Market, is very excited about this years’ show. “We had an amazing turn-out of artists and customers for our first show, so we’ve built on that success and have added more vendors, artists and craftspeople – and opened the Market Café, as well as a gift-wrapping station, so people can really make a day of it at the Holiday Market. And never have to pay for parking.”

“Gateway is thrilled to be a partner, once again, in the Holiday Market. This great event, along with our unique retail stores, restaurants, and artist galleries make the South End the most eclectic and exciting holiday shopping destination around,” says Ellen Witt, Associate Director, Washington Gateway Main Street

The South End Holiday Market, in the heart of the SoWa Arts and Media District, will also provide free parking at 500 and 540 Harrison Avenue. The event hours are Friday, December 9, 6:00pm ¬ 10:00pm, Saturday, December 10, 10:00am – 6:00pm and Sunday, December 11, 10:00am – 4:00pm.
