VALHALLA, NY – September 30 (SEND2PRESS NEWSWIRE) — The Westchester Organic Fair will be held Sunday, October 23, 2005 from 11:00 A.M. – 5:00 P.M. at the Kensico Dam – Valhalla, New York. Thousands of expected participants will be treated to a unique blend of a family day with the children (martial arts demonstrations, workshops, fun obstacle courses and more), adult entertainment, education at the organic market and healthy living pavilion, (brimming with information and workshops on health and well being) and epicurean delights at an all organic and kosher barbeque.
The fair coincides with the holiday of Sukkos, (the Biblical celebration of the harvest season). The largest “Hay From the Farm Sukkah” in the world will be built (a sukkah is a makeshift hut used during the holiday).
At center stage will be Yossi Piamenta of the Piamenta band. (Yossie Piamenta was mentored by well known Stan Getz) Other Jazz bands will play throughout the day.
The Westchester Organic Fair will raise funds for Mississippi organic farms. “The ‘Adopt an Organic Farm’ – in the wake of Katrina” program will send its donations to hard hit organic operations,” said fair sponsor Harold Hochberger, of Mrs. Green’s Natural Markets. “Some need money for seed, others need new equipment,” he added. In addition to fundraising locations at all Mrs. Green’s locations, profits from the fair will be sent to adopted farms in Mississippi. The program is coordinated with the Mississippi Department of Agriculture organic program.
The fair is the first of its kind in the region. Reaching Connecticut, New York City, Westchester New Jersey, and Rockland County. The fair will introduce consumers, many for the first time, about organic farming and health.
Supporters of the Westchester Organic Fair include Natural Food Certifiers, Mrs. Greens Natural Market, Steaz (an organic soft drink company), Potent Food (a macca-a peruvian plant-containing health bar, an organic chicken egg operation, and even a personal trainer studio run by a Jewish ex navy US. SEAL). At the healm is the Chai Center of Lubavitch of Westchester.
