KAHULUI, Hawaii, April 25 (SEND2PRESS NEWSWIRE) — The sounds of the ocean, the smell of plumeria in the air, and the chirping of exotic birds in the garden. These are the attractions touted by “The Road to Life,” a new and unusual health and lifestyle modification retreat in the isolated Hawaiian community of Hana, on the island of Maui. Sponsored by Rational Christian Ministries, a non-denominational Christian ministry dedicated to health and wellness education, The Road to Life promotes its private setting on Hana Bay as a place where guests can learn how to slow down from life’s hectic pace while eating more wholesome foods for optimum health.
While not claiming to offer the kind of amenities found at many of the five-star hotels, this quaint 100-year-old facility boasts a kind of charm that they say will tickle the fancy of the most discerning health enthusiast. “We consider ourselves to be a one-of-a-kind health recovery facility,” says Rebekah Peters, spokesperson for Rational Christian Ministries, the retreat’s sponsor. “Our main purpose is to educate guests about the importance of proper diet in preventing and overcoming disease. Most people are surprised to discover that a good vegetarian diet and some basic changes in their daily routine can not only keep them healthy, but even help heal serious illnesses.”
“The Road to Life” is located in the rural Hawaiian community of Hana, a remote island spot known to tourists by the challenging drive required to get there. The famous Road to Hana, a 50-mile stretch of two-lane highway with over 600 turns along seacliffs and waterfalls, is the only way to reach this traditional Hawaiian stronghold, considered by many to be paradise because of its beautiful ocean vistas and lush tropical landscapes. For those not so eager to travel the long and winding road, the Hana airport offers a couple of flights a day from Kahului and Honolulu.
“We are very small and cozy,” says Peters. “This is why we only take a couple of folks at one time. It is our goal to provide highly individualized service, since everyone’s needs are different. With our quiet setting on the bay, the health lectures we offer, and our unique vegetarian dishes, The Road to Life gives our special guests the chance to regain their balance and to establish a more meaningful relationship with God and with those around them.”
The Road to Life presently offers very limited accomodations, as it continues to plan expansion efforts for later this year, according to Peters. Reservations are taken for weekly or monthly stays. A room with an ocean view and private lanai ranges from $1,100 to $1,750 a week, depending upon individual needs, with all vegetarian meals and health lectures included.
