XPORTATION SAFETY CONCEPTS, INC. (XSCI) ANNOUNCES SHIPPING OF AIRBAG COMPATIBLE INFANT SEAT AT LIFESAVERS CONFERENCE
Airbag used to enhance safety of Traveling Infants
ORLANDO, FL -- (SEND2PRESS NEWSWIRE via PRNetwire) -- JUNE 7, 2002 -- To coincide with the Lifesavers Conference being held in Orlando, Florida starting on June 9, 2002, a conference designed to enhance the safety of traveling children, Xportation Safety Concepts, Inc. (XSCi) started to ship its PIONEERED(tm) Airbag compatible Infant Seat which was formally introduced to market at the Juvenile Products Manufacturers Association (JPMA) trade-show, in May, 2002.
Xportation Safety Concepts, Inc. (XSCi) is an invited Member, AIRBAG Blue-ribbon Panel.
The PIONEERED(tm) Infant compatible Infant Seat takes advantage of an airbag, it does not simply tolerate it. The enormous airbag energy is used to redirect the crash energy, as well as its own, away fro the infant, offering the most secure traveling environment for an infant. Based on upwards of one-hundred sled tests using instrumented dummies, the PIONEERED(tm) seat outperform all conventional infant seat, with or without an airbag. The seat performs better with an airbag, than it, or any other infant seat, does without an airbag.
Since of the to ten highest volume selling vehicles four are pickup trucks, as are the top two, a single seat vehicle without, or at best with an unsafe back seat, making the front seat safe for infants as the PIONEERED(tm) seat does, is an important undertaking. This is especially so in view of an article in the Journal of the American Medical Association which recently revealed that children in the back seat of pickup trucks are five times as likely to suffer severe injuries, death than in other vehicles, or the front seat airbag not withstanding.
The PIONEERED(tm) Airbag Compatible Infant Seat is also important because information extracted from various National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), and based on specific studies clearly demonstrates that driver distractions from rear-facing infants in the back seat contribute to crashes which lead to unnecessary irreversible injuries, and to fatalities.
When a pickup truck is equipped with a passenger airbag and a bypass switch, even though the infant is safer with the airbag on, following Government guidelines to turn the airbag off when an infant is present; what does one do if two adults an infant are riding in the front seat? Turning off the airbag deprives the non-driving adult from airbag protection, leaving it on, if not for the PIONEERED(tm) seat could endanger the infant; with the PIONEERED(tm) Seat, both the second adult and the infant receive maximum airbag protection, as it should be.
The PIONEERED(tm) Airbag Safe Infant Seat has been tested for some seven years, both in the United States, and in Europe. The seat was tested by key automobile makers, independent test laboratories, and university facilities, all demonstrating that the concept is sound, and that the most recent proposal by the NHTSA for biomechanical measurements as part of applicable Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standards, are doable in most cases.
