THE HEALING POWER OF MUSIC FINDS AN AUDIENCE POST 9/11
Throggs Neck, NY -- (SEND2PRESS NEWSWIRE via PRNetwire) -- Two New York therapists who donated their time for crisis intervention for those affected by the September 11th (aka "(9/11") tragedy have taken their experience to the next level through the healing power of music.
Anthony Soriano, a recreational therapist, helped senior citizens at a nursing home cope with their losses and hardship through music. Jay Bertin, a psychotherapist, manned crisis hotlines, and organized free psychotherapy and counseling for those traumatized by the horrific events.
The underlying emotions from their months of counseling surfaced in a song called 'We Were Almost There.' Bertin says, "The song has emotional rejuvenation and mending powers that I've witnessed first hand."
The CD (also available as an MP3 file) recorded by their part-time band TJ Rocket, is now available free of charge to individuals, organization or those planning memorials.
It's no secret that through the centuries, music has been used to soothe and heal during times of stress and illness. Music has no bounds when it creates the sounds to heal and mellow the soul. Tony and Jay have expressed their deepest feelings in this song. In doing so, they've touched upon the principles of healing, renewal and growth.
Mark Drucker of CBS affiliate KYW Newsradio 1060 in Philadelphia has called 'We Were Almost There,' "...therapeutic, spiritually uplifting, energizing, life-affirming, positive, healing, awakening, and soul-searching."
For media writers interested in an interview, Tony and Jay will share their journey of musical healing.
The compact disc or MP3 file is available free of charge, on request, from JIBertin2aol.com. CDs are in limited quantity.
