Croda Executive Emphasizes Innovation in the Cosmetic and Pharmaceutical Industries
EDISON, N.J. - August 10, 2004 /Send2Press Newswire/ -- Innovation was the major theme
at Croda Inc.'s inauguration of its new North American Headquarters and Innovation
Center late last month. Croda Inc. (www.crodausa.com) is the North American subsidiary
of Croda International PLC, a world-class supplier of specialty chemicals to the
cosmetic, toiletries, household, pharmaceutical and manufacturing industries.
"Invention alone is not sufficient for innovation," said Kevin F. Gallagher, president
of Croda Inc., at the company's new facility in Edison, NJ. "In our terms, that means
that it is not enough that R&D invents an exciting new ingredient. We must also help
introduce that ingredient to our customers and to the marketplace in a meaningful way.
Innovation requires a commitment from everyone involved at each step of the process."
"We've structured our facility and teams to help our customers realize new and exciting
offerings for a demanding personal care product market," Gallagher went on. "Croda's
marketing, sales and R&D departments are trained to work closely to identify and
capitalize on emerging trends; and we often receive specific confidential requests from
our customers."
"With state-of-the-art equipment and a world-class staff, Croda is in a unique position
to develop technologies, ingredients, new formulations even new scientific testing
methodologies -- that can deliver breakthrough consumer benefits."
"The bottom-line is that we're able to offer the marketers and manufacturers of hair
and skin products technical solutions that will have a higher degree of success in the
marketplace, and get them into the pipeline sooner."
Croda's new Innovation Center houses a fully functional hair salon, individual skin
biology and claims support testing labs, as well as separate syntheses, application
testing and claims support laboratories.
Croda Inc. was the recipient of the 2004 Frost and Sullivan Award for Technology in
recognition for its leadership in applying an innovative process to the manufacture of
fatty esters.
Croda International posted 2003 sales of L285.3 million ($516 million). Personal care
accounted for 58 percent of those revenues, followed by industrial specialties at 20
percent, home care and plastics additives at 14 percent and other at 8 percent.
