U.S. Hispanic Contractors Association to hold National Conference in Fort Lauderdale September 23-25
Article Editor: Christopher Laird Simmons
FORT LAUDERDALE, FL - September 17, 2004 /Send2Press Newswire/ -- More apropos than anybody
could have imagined when originally scheduled prior to this year's devastating hurricane
season, the U.S. Hispanic Contractors Association will meet for their annual national
conference in Fort Lauderdale, Florida Thursday, September 23 through Saturday, September 25,
at the Greater Fort Lauderdale/Broward County Convention Center, 1950 Eisenhower Blvd.
Participants in the conference, which is themed, "Framing the Future: Diversity Builds the
American Dream," will gather from across the country and hear presentations from newsmakers
including:**
- Alberto Gonzales, Counsel to President George W. Bush (Saturday, 12:45 p.m. Eastern)
- U.S. Congressman Ciro Rodriquez (D-Texas) (Saturday, 12:45 p.m. Eastern)
- Alfonso Martinez-Fonts, Spec. Assist. to Homeland Security Secretary Tom Ridge
(Friday, 8 a.m. Eastern)
- Jose Abreu, Florida Secretary of Transportation (Friday, 12:15 p.m. Eastern)
[**Note: partial list of speakers confirmed as of release date.]
Foremost in the minds of many conferees will be renewed concern surrounding efforts to re-build
after the devastation suffered in the region following three major storms so far this hurricane
season.
The U.S. Hispanic Contractors Association places a high priority on quality workmanship, strong
professional ethics, and the fight against fly-by-night profiteers and opportunists who always
seem to swarm to the scene of destruction following natural disasters to prey on those already
victimized by major weather events.
The conference is sponsored in part by construction industry leaders including The Home Depot,
ICI Paints, Bosch, Makita USA, and Hilti.
All conference events at the convention center are open to news media. For a complete
convention schedule or more information, please contact Harold Cook at (512)731-2445.
