SPYDETECT INTRODUCES PRIVACYSAFEGUARD NEW ONLINE STOREFRONT TURNS PRIVACY POLICIES TO PROFITS
ANAHEIM HILLS, Calif. - Nov. 5, 2002 /Send2Press Newswire/ -- SpyDetect, Inc. is announcing PrivacySafeGuard(R), a new online service that enables users to view a complete assortment of downloadable software that solves all needs related to privacy and security.
In a June report by Jupiter Research, 70 percent of online consumers said they were worried about online privacy and 93 percent said it was very important for e-commerce sites to disclose their privacy policy practices. PrivacySafeGuard offers a choice of best-of-breed software to address online consumers' concerns about revealing information, identity theft and invasion and online threats that can harm the PC.
As required by MasterCard and Visa regulations, every major consumer Web site includes a link to its privacy policy, but under the current structure, the privacy policy page produces no revenue. PrivacySafeGuard provides the tools to direct site traffic to privacy policies and create a new income stream through a revenue-sharing business model. The service helps online retailers monetize site real estate that contains no advertising.
With banners and text links driving traffic to the privacy policy, partner Web sites using PrivacySafeGuard promote the ability for users to take control of their online privacy and security. Once on the policy page, promotional graphics drive users to the PrivacySafeGuard storefront where they can purchase a variety of privacy and security software tools. A percentage of all revenue generated from each link to the policy page is distributed to partners monthly. There is no development required, no change in the privacy policy nor any responsibility for the transaction processing.
The PrivacySafeGuard site includes a free report about both online and offline privacy protection prepared by SpyDetect, Inc. PrivacySafeGuard is a service developed by SpyDetect, a privately held company, based in Anaheim Hills, California. The company publishes SpyDetect and DataEraseSure software offering the most comprehensive set of privacy tools available, including complete protection against snoopware and revealing personal information. As part of a special offer, PrivacySafeGuard will provide BlackICE PC Protection and SpyDetect. BlackICE technology provides comprehensive firewall, intrusion and application protection to secure PCs against worms, hybrid threats and other cyber attacks.
"PrivacySafeGuard offers a suite of companion products and services to provide a one stop solution for all of consumers' privacy concerns," said James Howe, president of SpyDetect. "We are pleased to offer software from Internet Security Systems, Symantec, McAfee and others that improve the online experience."
SpyDetect has partnered with Digital River, Inc. (Nasdaq:DRIV), a leading global e-commerce outsourcer, to provide digital fulfillment and customer support for its new service. Digital River brings together the e-commerce technology, world-class infrastructure and best practice expertise needed to manage the online purchase and delivery of the software.
