EVOLUTIONARY FAMILY COACH CALLS ADD/ADHD MEDICATION "CHEMICAL LOBOTOMY"
One Day Training Course Gives Parents and Educators Practical Tools for
Supporting ADD/ADHD Children
SEDONA, AZ - Feb. 4, 2003 /Send2Press Newswire/ -- With over 6,000,000 prescriptions
written for Ritalin in the Unites States every year, more and more parents and
educators question the need for medicating children diagnosed with Attention
Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (ADD/ADHD) and other learning difficulties.
According to Karen Curry, B.S.N., internationally known family coach trainer,
author and child development specialist (www.joyfulmission.com), symptoms of
ADD/ADHD are frequently exhibited by gifted children who are not having their
developmental, nutritional or educational needs being met successfully. "When
we fail to recognize gifted children and instead medicate them, we are choosing
to give our brightest students chemical lobotomies," states Curry.
On February 22, 2003, Curry will be presenting an all day workshop for parents
and educators offering innovative strategies for raising healthy children
without stimulant medication. The workshop, entitled "Indigo Children, The
Promise of the New Millenium", will be held at the Hampton Inn in Sedona,
Arizona, from 9:00 a.m.- 4:00 p.m.
According to Curry, the diagnostic rate for ADD/ADHD has increased at an
alarming rate worldwide. In some areas of the United States over 30% of
children in public schools are diagnosed with ADD/ADHD. "The diagnostic
criteria for ADD/ADHD is laughable and purely subjective. If we applied the
ADD/ADHD diagnostic criteria to ourselves, most adults would be labeled ADD,"
says Curry.
Curry claims new data reveal that the number of profoundly gifted children, some
with IQ scores of over 200, is increasing exponentially every year. Many of
these children are diagnosed with learning disabilities and are medicated.
During her workshop, Curry will teach parents and educators new strategies to
guide and support the healthy development of these children.
Curry will explain current trends and changes in child development, give parents
and educators new strategies to improve learning in the classroom and at home,
and discuss nutritional and behavioral options that can eliminate the need for
medication.
Using Human Design analysis, a new personality mapping technique, Curry will
show how so-called ADD behavior can be a part of an individual's personality and
will never be altered by medication. With this simple insight, parents and
educators can begin to teach students how to enhance their academic and personal
performance. All participants in the workshop will receive free Human Design
charts for themselves and their family.
Workshop tuition is $55.00 per person, $100.00 per couple. To register call
