COLLECTIBLE COMPANY MEMORIALIZES HOLLYWOOD LIBERALS WITH CONTROVERSIAL AWARD
PORTLAND, OR - June 3, 2003 /Send2Press Newswire/ -- Great American Holiday
Collectibles Company announced today a new series of carved folk-art
collectibles called the "Dumb Fuq Award" (www.dumbfuqs.com). It's a carved
caricature likeness of the person being "honored." The first Dumb Fuq Award
recipient is actor and anti-war activist Tim Robbins, for what company president
Dan Sherman calls Mr. Robbins' "borderline lunatic stance on the forced removal
of Saddam Hussein from power in Iraq."
So what EXACTLY is a Dumb Fuq Award?
"First, it's pronounced 'Dumb Folk' because we're a family oriented company,"
Sherman says with a smile. "However, feel free to pronounce it any way you'd
like. The Dumb Fuq Award is given to deserving comrades of the liberal left. We
feel they should not use their celebrity status and media platform to sway
public opinion on topics they are not qualified to sway public opinion on. So
if and when they mouth off, we'll memorialize their irresponsibility by
presenting them with a Dumb Fuq Award."
Only 5000 of each character is issued. Each collectible figure has a unique
inscription. "It serves as a daily reminder to boycott the recipient's work now
and in the future. Purchasing their product supports their popularity and
therefore their media exposure. So, if you support their livelihood you are
supporting their ability to spew their idiotic ideas in public forums," Sherman
says. "I call it censorship by disassociation."
"Our next Dumb Fuq Award will be given to Susan Sarandon," adds Sherman. "On
deck for future awards are Michael Moore (we're trying to find enough wood to
accurately carve his head), Martin Sheen, Janeane Garofalo, and Barbra
Streisand."
Great American has simultaneously launched an affiliate program to give
conservative or fun-related websites the chance to help spread the word about
this somewhat eclectic collectible.
