CITY NETWORK ANNOUNCES NEW PROJECT WITH EASY-UP CORPORATION TO INSTALL WIRELESS NETWORKING PRODUCTS IN MCDONALD'S RESTAURANTS
TAIPEI, TAIWAN - August 15, 2003 (Send2Press Newswire) - City Network Inc.
(OTCBB: CYNW) announced today the consummation of an important contract
and joint venture project with Easy-Up Corporation (Yao Jeng Technology)
which is currently working with McDonald's Corporation in Taiwan. This
transaction marks an important event in City Network's aggressive
expansion in the hot, new wireless internet networking market. Each of the
more than 360 McDonald's stores throughout Taiwan will participate in the
new campaign to promote the use and popularity of wireless internet
service. City Network will be the sole supplier of the wireless
accesspoint hardware and equipment with Taiwan's Easy-Up Corporation
providing key engineering and technical assistance (www.easy-up.net).
"We are excited to have this opportunity to work with a global icon such
as McDonald's," remarked Alice Chen, City Network spokesperson and
director of sales and marketing, "with this new contract, City Network can
both gain important market recognition and continue its push to build
significant revenue in a hot, new business segment."
City Network plans to supply Easy-Up to install all McDonald's stores in
Taiwan with wireless internet hardware and will assist in the installation
of Hot Spot stations together with Easy-up Corporation in the dining area
of each restaurant. Customers will be given the chance to surf the
Internet in the absence of electric cords and networking wires while
eating their meals. This is a bold new step for the company as its
products and company logo will be displayed prominently in the stores
facilities.
In addition, City Network plans on taking advantage of a substantial new
source of revenue by participating in revenues of sales of wireless LAN
cards to be sold at the restaurants registers.
"Not only are we involved in the product sales, but we now can also share
in the profit generated by the sale of wireless LAN cards and time spent
surfing the net by the restaurants customers," noted Miss Chen. "City
Network will participate in not only the revenues represented by the
products sold for use in this project, but is also slated to make 25% of
the profit on the sale of wireless internet time to customers. The plan is
to establish wireless hotspots so that McDonald's customers can easily
link up with the Internet while eating in the restaurant's dining area.
Each customer will be able to buy Internet airtime which will be
programmed onto wireless LAN cards."
There is a tremendous advantage for retailers to extend the amount of time
each customer spends within the premises, and the introduction of such a
convenient and exciting way to do so is a boon to both restaurant clients
and to City Network.
