PHOENIX TECHNOLOGIES JOINS THE SERVICE AVAILABILITY FORUM'S EFFORTS TO ENABLE MANAGED SERVICES
Phoenix Technologies joins the SA Forum to ensure managed services
within the communications infrastructure
PORTLAND, OR - (Send2Press Newswire) - Oct. 14, 2003 -- The Service
Availability Forum (SA Forum) today announced Phoenix Technologies
Ltd., the global leader in device-enabling and management software
products has joined its growing list of participating industry leading
communications and computing companies. The SA Forum is the first
industry body dedicated to developing specifications that facilitate the
faster delivery of cost-effective, carrier-grade communications
equipment and applications.
"Phoenix is pleased to join the SA Forum and take advantage of the
program with other industry leaders," said Timothy D. Eades, Senior Vice
President and General Manager, Corporate Marketing and Products Division
for Phoenix. "We see tremendous potential to widen our customer and
partner base through the SA Forum, especially in industries that focus
on infrastructure equipment and applications."
Phoenix Technologies joins the efforts of the SA Forum in the
development and facilitation of the adoption of open, carrier-grade
platform and middleware interface specifications that encompass all
standards-based network equipment elements quickly and easily. Phoenix
Technologies brings its experience in communications solutions that
activate, secure, connect, and recover the world's best-known systems.
These solutions operate from the Phoenix Core Managed Environment
(cME), where they're built in and protected from viruses, user errors,
hackers, and corruption.
"Phoenix Technologies provides expertise in service delivery solutions
that will make an important contribution to the Forum s efforts," said
Timo Jokiaho, president of the Service Availability Forum. "Membership
continues to grow as companies like Phoenix Technologies see the
opportunity to contribute to the SA Forum's success in delivering
standards needed for cost-effective, carrier-grade communications
infrastructure equipment and applications."
The SAForum Hardware Platform Interface (HPI) and SA Forum Application
Interface Specification (AIS) are now available to TEMs, Original
Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs), Independent Software Vendors (ISVs), and
Network Equipment Providers (NEPs) on the SA Forum's web site
(www.saforum.org). These specifications facilitate faster and more
cost-effective development and deployment of carrier-grade
infrastructure equipment and applications. In addition, this open,
standards-based interface will enable an ecosystem of solutions
providers, yielding greater focus of design resources on innovation and
product differentiation.
Historically, proprietary technologies have been seen as a means of
competitive differentiation but today, industry leaders in
communications are beginning to move from proprietary development to a
more open, standards-based environment in order to lower costs, limit
technology risk, and reduce time-to-market. The SA Forum and its members
are dedicated to developing and facilitating the adoption of open,
carrier-grade platform and middleware interfaces that tie together all
standards-based network equipment elements quickly and easily.
