RichmondAir Completes Wireless Network for Historic Jefferson Hotel
RICHMOND, VA February 9, 2004 /Send2Press Newswire/ RichmondAir (www.richmondair.com) today
announced the launch of its newest wireless iSpotz(tm) location, the Jefferson Hotel in historic
downtown Richmond, Virginia. The Jefferson Hotel is offering iSpotz, the RichmondAir-powered network
as a complimentary high-speed Internet access value-add in its guestrooms, public areas and meeting
spaces.
First introduced in January 1, 2004, iSpotz allows guests to enjoy Internet connectivity without
changing any of their network settings. Use of the service can be accomplished with any 802.11b/g
"wi-fi" device, delivered utilizing industry leading Proxim radios and RichmondAir's iSpotz
controller, the RichmondAir Routing Engine (RARE). Users simply have to boot their computers and
begin surfing.
"Installation of the new RichmondAir service was completed in less than one month," marvels Todd
Larry, Director of IT for the Jefferson Hotel. "We didn't have to take a single room off the market
during installation. The RichmondAir engineers, Chris Eads and Brian Warshawsky, installed it as a
stealth service, maintaining the beauty and historical feel of our grand hotel. We would recommend
RichmondAir to any hotel, apartment or building owner looking for an efficient, painless installation
of high-speed Internet services."
Opened in 1895, The Jefferson Hotel (www.jeffersonhotel.com) is one of only 24 hotels to carry both
the Mobil Five Star and the AAA Five Diamond ratings. It is a member of both Preferred Hotels and
Resorts Worldwide and Historic Hotels of America. The Jefferson comes replete with rich tapestries,
antique replica furniture, embellished faux-marble columns, a 70-foot high ceiling with a stained-
glass skylight, and a magnificent sweeping staircase. In addition to its lavish 264 guestrooms and 18
opulent meeting/banquet rooms, The Jefferson also has two award winning restaurants, Lemaire and
TJ's.
