Friends Research Institute (FRI), in Joint Sponsorship with The Medical Education Council of Pensacola
(MECOP), and in collaboration with Florida A & M University, Florida State University, The State of
Florida Department of Health, the U.S. FDA, and the VHA present a two-day comprehensive National
Conference: "Protecting Vulnerable Subjects--Theory, Practice, and Compliance, Thursday & Friday, April 1
& 2, 2004 in Orlando, Florida at The Peabody Hotel. in Orlando, FL. Outstanding national faculty, with
Keynote Addresses by RADM Nathan Stinson, Jr., Deputy Assistant for Minority Health, DHHS, and Dr. John O.
Agwunoby, Secretary of Health, State of Florida.
This Conference is for IRB members, principal investigators, human protections and research staff,
faculty, attorneys, grant writers, media, and anyone interested in the protection of vulnerable and
potentially vulnerable subjects in research. Tuition for the Conference is $395.
FRI is also sponsoring a one-day basic introductory course in human subjects research protections entitled
"Fundamentals of Human Research Protections (FHRP ). Taught by Ernest D. Prentice, PhD and Adil E.
Shamoo, PhD, this Workshop is for IRB members, principal investigators, students, human protections and
research staff, faculty, institutional officials, attorneys, grant writers, media, and others involved in
human research protections.
The Workshop on Wednesday, March 31 is prior to the Conference at The Peabody Hotel in Orlando, FL.
Physicians AMA Category I CME credit will be awarded by MECOP for the Workshop and/or the Conference. The
one-day Workshop Fee is $185. The CME Fee is $25 for each event.
