EDS Global Security Operations Center Achieves BS 7799-2:2002 Registration
RESTON, VA - April 6, 2004 /Send2Press Newswire/ -- BSI Management Systems announced today
that EDS' Global Security Operations Center (GSOC) was successfully registered to BS
7799-2:2002, the international standard for information security management. The GSOC, a part
of EDS' U.S. Government Solutions Security and Privacy Professional Services (SPPS) practice,
has demonstrated EDS' continuing commitment to helping clients maintain a secure corporate
environment, by assuring information confidentiality, integrity, and availability through cost-
effective managed security services.
The security operations center provides 24 X 7 managed security services for U.S. government,
state and local agencies, and commercial companies worldwide. Services range from firewall
management to intrusion detection, computer incident response, and computer forensic services.
With this registration, the GSOC becomes only the sixth U.S.-based organization to have met the
rigorous requirements of the BS 7799-2:2002 standard and one of only two managed security
services operating in the U.S. to have met this standard.
"We are pleased to announce the registration of EDS to the 7799 standard," said Ronald D.
Mathis, Senior Vice President, BSI Management Systems. "The successful completion of the
registration process is an important achievement for the company and its employees. We are
equally pleased to have worked with EDS on its ISO 9001:2000 registration. The example EDS sets
for quality and security commitment is noteworthy and it sends a clear message to its customers
and stakeholders of EDS' high level of corporate responsibility."
"With the increased focus on enterprise IT security governance and regulatory compliance,
public and private sector organizations around the world have become increasingly aware of the
importance of ensuring the security of their entire IT infrastructure," said Al Edmonds, vice
president of Global Sales and Client Solutions - U.S. Government.
"The successful implementation of the system in the GSOC underscores the qualifications of EDS
to help both government and commercial organizations evaluate their systems and the threats
they face according to the demanding requirements of the world s preeminent information
security standard. We are very pleased to have achieved this important marketplace
differentiator."
